His family did not have a lot of money growing up, so he and his cousins would go with their mothers to the bay in Belmont Shore, almost every day of the summer. His parents gave him swimming lessons before he learned to walk, so he could survive if he wandered into the water. Of course Stan's astrological sign is Pisces.

As seen here, Stan was a natural at doing the "twist" on a water ski trips to the Colorado river with his family and friends.

In high school he was a member of his local Future Farmers of America and studied landscape design, horticulture, floriculture, also raised an animal of four. He won first prize for his Polynesian landscape design featuring anthuriums at the Riverside County Fair.

As a FFA member, Stan raised a dairy heifer named Sweetie for two years winning many showmanship awards.

Stan won the prestigious "Star Chapter Farmer" title for his accomplishments during his second year in FFA.

Here he is at the county fair showing the lamb he raised for six months.

He Produced the Senior's High School show "Follies 76". It was a similar idea to the movie "That's Entertainment" but with music and dance covering the 1900's to 1976. The show raised some money which was donated to a local charity.

Stan ran from the floor of the FFA State Convention and was elected without a runoff, to serve as the State Reporter for the California Association of Future Farmers of America. His duties included speaking engagements at multiple FFA chapters in California, and he also served as a delegate at the FFA National Convention in Kansas City.

After being a State Officer for the California Association of Future Farmers of America, Stan was bit by the theatre bug and attended Mt. San Jacinto Jr. College where he studied theatre, dance and acting. This is a photo from his performance in Godspell playing the title role of Jesus.

While at Mt. San Jacinto College, Stan sang in a Barber Shop Quartet called The Undertones. He is seen in this photo with the other members of the quartet, John Cox, Wayne Winsted, and Arthur "Sparky" Johnson. Most of the singing was for local retirement homes and assisted living facilities which brought much joy to those folks.

The summer before he gave up performing, he played mulitple roles at Summer Repertory Theatre in Santa Rosa, California. Here he is playing the part of Big Deal in West Side Story.

His stand out performance at SRT was Mary Sunshine in the musical Chicago, costumed in a "Woolworth lampshade". During the show the team up in the publicity office would keep track on how long he would hold the final note at the end of the song. During one show, the audience started laughing while he held the note for 44 seconds and when he finished the song, the audience broke into great applause.

As a student at California State University Long Beach he played the role of Louis in Pippin. This would be his last role as an actor after discovering he had the talent to become a Scenic Designer.

While taking a class at CSULB, called Graphics for the Theatre, his professor Herb Camburn took notice of his exceptional artistry. One day after class he told Stan he needed to persue a career as a Scenic Designer, as he would never lack for work. Herb hosted Stan's parents at his house a told them they should do everything in their power to support their incredibly talented son, who would be making a monumental change in his career for the better. With no formal training in art, this magnificent water color rendering for Camelot was Stan's first project for the class.

This is his first Scenic Design for a class project. His design features inspired and classic Hollywood Art Deco architectural details in soft shades of pink with silver accents. This scene is for the "Producers Office at Glogauer Studios", in the play Once in a Lifetime. Similar to the lion from MGM Studios, the mascot for Glogauer Studios is an elephant. Notice how he cleverly featured a marvelous and whimsical Art Deco elephant staircase railing into this beautiful design.

After giving up on the idea of becoming a professional musical theatre performer, he attended classes at CSULB, to get him up to speed so he could become a viable Scenic Design Associate and Scenic Designer. These classes included drafting, model building, and scenic painting. The image shows his first time creating realistic paint samples of bricks, flagstone and wood paneling.

He spent his summers in between attending CSULB & Rutgers working at the Grove Shakespeare Festival in Southern California as a scenic artist, charge artist, assistant designer and then Scenic Designer. Here is his color rendering for his first Scenic Design for GSF, The Merry Wives of Windsor. His design was honored with a L.A. Dramalogue Award.

He became a member of United Scenic Artists in 1986, after taking and passing the union exam for Scenic Design in Los Angeles. His rendering for Tartuffe, was one of two shows he had to design, along with presenting his portfolio.

He presented his portfolio at University Resident Theatre Association/ URTA's and was offered a scholarship to attend graduate school at Mason Gross School of the Arts/ Rutgers University. He designed a number of sets while also dabbling in costume & lighting design. In this add for MGSA/ Rutgers University you can see him with George Suhayda, Jim Gloria and Kevin McQuarrie painting the Olio Drop for High Button Shoes which he designed.

After graduating from Graduate School at Rutgers, he took a job at Disneyland as an Art Director. He designed a plethora of stage shows, parades and events. Working at Disneyland gave him the opportunity to collaborate directly with Michael Eisner, Frank Wells, and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Dick Tracy in Diamond Double Cross, was one of the shows he designed working directly with Micheal Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Frank Wells. The show was produced at Walt Disney World's, Disney's Hollywood Studios & Disneyland on the Videopolis stage.

Because of his direct contact with Michael Eisner, Frank Wells, and Jeffrey Katzenberg, he was given the opportunity to design the Walt Disney Companies first Broadway Musical, Disney's Beauty and the Beast. It was an epic moment in his career which changed his life forever. Seen here is Playbill for the World Premiere at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, Texas. The show in its infancy was using a logo inspired by the animated film.

Technical Rehearsals for Disney's Beauty and the Beast out of town tryout in Houston. You can tell this image is from Houston because of that stunning, salmon sunrise at the bottom of the translucent drop.

Here he is during previews standing in front of the marquee for Disney's Beauty and the Beast, at the Palace Theatre in NYC.

Stan, Matt West, Rob Roth and Jeffrey Katzenburg at the opening of the LA company of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. This production and the other grand enormous sit-down, International companies, were so much larger and colorful than the original Broadway Company. You can see he let his hair grow out after the Broadway opening.

Here he is inside the famous pyramid set with its beautiful scenic painting, gradation of color that transitions from gold metallic to lapis lazuli. The show had it's out-of-town tryout at The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.

His first date with Arnis Robeznieks. His cousin Robin was visiting and staying with Stan in his NYC apartment. He thought it might be odd to have someone extra tag along on a first date, but Robin convinced him it would be fine.

Early in their relationship, Arnis, who is a pastry chef, asked Stan to design a gingerbread house. Stan wanted there to be a story and so he created one- The elves were tired of the cold so Santa moved the shop to Hawaii. The entire structure, beams, roofs, needed to be drawn in full scale so Arnis could build the entire structure out of Gingerbread, constructing it exactly like a real tiki hut. No hot glue and foam core could be used! Stan liked all of the candies Arnis was using for decoration and really admired the shingling on the roof made out of Necco wafers.

After creating and opening the amazing and revolutionary themed entertainment show, Blue Horizons at SeaWorld, Orlando, the creative team was treated to a swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove. Because Blue Horizons was the most popular show in the history of SeaWorld, the creative team developed another version of the show for SeaWorld, San Diego.

Stan with the "Hello Kitty Dancers" from his first Production Design for Universal Studios Japan called Happy Harmony Celebration. A street show which also featured the characters from Peanuts, Shrek and Sesame Street!

Here he is in front of his first float design for the Tournament of Roses Parade, saluting SeaWorld's 50th Anniversary. Stan was awarded the Presidents Award for this stunning and beautifully detailed float design.

He was a part of the legendary team of theatrical artists that created a presentation for a Las Vegas spectacle musical called Buzz!! The show was the story of legendary Hollywood Movie Musical, Director and Choreographer Busby Berkeley. It would feature a cast of 100 girls and one man playing the role of Buzz. Alan Menken and David Zippel created a number of amazing songs including, "More is Better" and "Only Girl in the World". Alan amazingly performed these beautiful songs, live on a piano during the presentation of the show in Las Vegas.

Arnis and Stan were married at the Justice of the Peace in lower Manhattan on January 10th.

A few days after getting married, Arnis and Stan traveled from New York City out to Lake Tahoe to celebrate the marriage of their family and friends, Brett & LeeAnne Lefever.

Arnis and Stan's wedding party in Las Vegas, was held two months after they tied the knot. They had so many family and friends in attendance. Their first dance was to one of Dean Martin's famous songs, "Everybody Love's Somebody Sometime". Arnis's parents Karlis and Astrida joined Arnis and Stan on the dance floor celebrating this beautiful moment.

Another first for was Stan, was being listed in the National Library of Congress for his whimsical and charming illustrations for the self help, interior design book, 101 Things I Hate About Your House. It's a horrible title for a book, but his illustrations very sweetly told the story of the situations described in the book, showcasing all of our pets. Stan's cat, "Barney", Jim's dogs, "Micky and Max", and Carol's blue fish.

Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg was his first Production Design for a themed rollercoaster. Take in the massive scale of his abstract and evocative design with the rollercoaster track running through and around the stylized leaves and branches of the Black Forest.

Scenic Design Associate, Jason Curtis and Sir Tim Rice join Stan in celebrating the opening of the North America Premiere of From Here to Eternity. This was his third time collaborating with Sir Tim Rice.

After moving to Orlando, Stan and his husband Arnis, celebrated Christmas at Epcot.

His evocative and surreal Scenic Design of a cassette tape unwinding for the play Warhol Capote, at ART/ American Repertory Theatre. It had always a dream for him to design a show there.

He is an avid collector of vintage glass Christmas ornaments for his tree.

He raises orchids in his design studio in Orlando, and is a member of the Central Florida Orchid Society.

He Trademarked his tag-line he had been using for years, "Making A Career out of Coloring and Playing Pretend".
